ABOUT DERVISH HATIXHE

Dervish Hatixhe was an ordinary woman from Tirana, married with two children. As the many women at that time, she worked hard to be a good wife to her abusive husband and a good mother to her children.

It was her God calling to become the leader of her community when the cholera epidemics stroke. She turned her house to a hospital and her lands to cemetery. She organized the humanitarian teams of women to help all in people in need.

Her exeptional efforts did not go unnoticed. The very people and families that she helped crowned her with the enlightement title "Dervish".

After her death, her final resting place was transformed to a pilgrimage site, becoming the Tekke of Dervish Hatixhe. This spiritual site has since been in the administration of the Dervish Hatixhe family, for more then 250 years.

People that visit the Tekke of Dervish Hatixhe experience the simplicity of life, their prayers and her soul that uplifts them with great hopes while keeping them grounded with deep gratitude.

Dervish Hatixhe Foundation is inspired by the enlightened work of Dervish Hatixhe and it is dedicated in helping women, men, children and families to contribute to the betterment of the society. This organization offers educational and practical tools for personal growth, supporting talents, ideas and creativity in all different fields of life such as arts, science, spirituallity, enterpreneurship, history, language, etc.
